The brief was to create a light filled home office, with views out to the garden and a conceptual 'commute' to work from the main house on the first  & second floor. 
Furthermore, the underused ground floor was gloomy and lifeless. The goal was to transform this space into social additional living space with a connection to the garden, a space to host gatherings, for the kids to play, and a snug that is separate from the formal living room upstairs. 

A bedroom and a bathroom also connect to this space creating a self contained ground floor flat to accommodate aging family members in the future.
