Project: Rear Extension for Victorian Terrace
Status: On site
Creating a family kitchen/diner fit for purpose. A single storey rear extension, clad in shou-sugi ban timber (the process of charring the wood to preserve the timber) sits at the rear of a 3 bedroom Victorian terrace. The walls of the proposed extension will be filled with hemp insulation, a natural and healthy alternative to synthetic foam insulation. This choice of insulation has a bigger mass to achieve the desired thermal properties, giving this extension lovely thick walls, grounding the charred box into its space. An ASHP will also be fitted to the flat roof, supporting the houses energy supply with a sustainable source.
