A light touch timber extension creates an upstairs with 2 additional bedrooms and a bathroom for a small bungalow in the heart of the Peak District. 

The brief was to turn this small bungalow into a family home for 3 generations. With accessible living downstairs for the elder family member and a master suite upstairs that took advantage of the incredible views.

In the past, visitors to the house have struggled to find the primary access to the house so some time was spent re designing the front door. This has been overcome with an additional small timber extension that presents itself from the driveway. 

The proposed timber cladding (western red cedar) is both sustainable and durable. Overtime, left untreated the timber will weather to a beautiful silvery tone.
